Cyberpunk 2077 is an action role-playing video game developed and published by CD Projekt and is expected to launch on December 10, 2020, on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The setting of this video game is a dystopian city called Night City as an open world divided into six areas. Players take on the character as a V -ranked merchant who can be skilled in the areas of hacking, the use of machinery, and weapons.
Gameplay of cyberpunk 2077:
Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person game. The player controls a fully customizable character named V. HUD values vary depending on which skill the player wants to focus on: hacking, technical ability, or combat. To install implants and update the V software, you need to contact the “ripper”; at the same time, black markets offer opportunities that, according to the laws of the game universe, are available only to the military. The rarity of any equipment is shown by the corresponding color of their icons. V can hide behind obstacles, shoot, run, jump, double jump, and slide. The game features both melee weapons and ranged weapons; the latter is presented in three types, all of which can be customized and modified for the player: power (standard), technical (penetrating the walls and armor of the enemy), and “smart” (with homing bullets). Ranged weapons have the ability to reflect bullets in the direction of the target and slow them down. V can deal with and receive four types of damage: physical, thermal, electromagnetic, and chemical. The use of weapons increases accuracy and reload speed, and this is reflected in the animation of the character. Gunsmiths can repair and upgrade weapons. The game can be completed without killing anyone, using non-lethal weapons and software.
Story of the Cyberpunk 2077:
The game begins by choosing one of V’s three paths in life. All three options agree that V starts a new life and makes new friends: the bandit Jackie Wells and the hacker T-Bug. In 2077, local fixer Dexter Deshawn hires Wee and Wells to steal a mysterious biochip from the Arasaka Corporation. They manage to steal the chip, but the plan is thwarted as they accidentally witness the death of the leader of the mega-corporation, Saburo Arasaki, at the hands of his insidious son, Yorinobu. He hides the murder, stating that his father was poisoned, and starts a security check. T-Bug is killed by Arasaki’s staff hackers. When Vee and Wells escape, a gunfight begins; Jackie is mortally wounded, the biochip’s protective case is critically damaged, and V is forced to insert the biochip into his head to keep it working.
Deshawn is furious at the unwanted attention now being directed towards him by the police. He shoots V in the head and leaves him to die in the junkyard, later killed by Goro. The protagonist is helped to survive by the former head of Saburo Arasaki’s security, Goro Takemura, who wants to bring the parricide Yorinobu to clean water. Upon awakening, it is revealed that the chip contains the identity of Johnny Silverhand, a famous rocker, anarchist, and terrorist who died half a century ago after he destroyed Arasaki’s past headquarters in a nuclear explosion. V learns from his ripper Viktor Vector that Deshawn’s bullet activated the biochip technology that provides resurrection, but also triggered an irreversible process, as a result of which Silverhand’s memories and personality began to overwrite V’s memories, replacing them with their own. The chip cannot be removed, as this will lead to V’s instant death.
The protagonist only has a few weeks to live, so V starts looking for a way to get rid of Silverhand and survive at the same time. Reliving Silverhand’s memories, V learns that in 2023, his then-girlfriend, brilliant hacker Alt Cunningham created “The Soul Separator,” an artificial intelligence capable of copying people’s minds through its neural connections. “Arasaka” kidnapped Cunningham and forced her to create a version of the “Soul Separator” specifically for the corporation, keeping the minds in the digital fortress “Arasaki”, “Mikoshi”. Silverhand led a rescue mission to save Cunningham but was unable to locate her before Arasaka used the Soul Separator on her. Johnny attempted revenge by organizing a thermonuclear explosion, but Arasaka grabbed him and also used the Soul Separator against him.
V is left with a choice: to attack the Arasaka Tower to gain physical access to the Mikoshi and use the Soul Separator to remove the Silverhand from his body, or to try to find another solution to the problem. Depending on the player’s actions and the number of additional missions completed throughout the game, V can choose between different options for conducting an attack: let the Silverhand capture his body and organize an attack on the Arasaka Tower, organize an attack using a network of allies gathered during the game, or attack alone, or choose not to attack at all and instead commit suicide (which ends the game immediately). Also, the protagonist can make a deal with “Arasaka” and help her revive Saburo Arasaku, whose identity was saved in the same chip in the body of Yorinobu Arasaki. In spite of this, after successfully using the Soul Separator, it turns out that V’s body is irreversibly damaged. Depending on the player’s choice, V either remains in his body and lives out his short life or allows Silverhend to take him forever; in this case, Johnny reveals that he appreciates the gesture and leaves Night City to start a new life.
